Interest: Ecology of dispersal focusing on animal movement
I am a MSc student in the Movement
Ecology Lab. In animal-dispersed plants, the spatial arrangement
of dispersed seeds depends greatly on the disperser activity. Animal
behavior, and especially movement, is complex and difficult to measure.
Mechanistic models can provide a way to evaluate the relative importance
of many factors involved in seed dispersal by animals. The model
I'm developing an individual-based mathematical model for seed dispersal
by animals. With the help of this model, I intend to test the hypothesis
of directed dispersal in specific habitats, to evaluate the effects
of landscape heterogeneity and fragmentation, and to predict frequency
of LDD events, independent of observed data.
