Research
Interests: Conservation Biology
I am a PhD
student in the Movement Ecology lab.
My main research interest is in Conservation Biology, focusing on the
landscape
and regional
scales. In my MSc thesis I tested the efficiency of cluster analysis
based on environmental factors in representing
regional
species diversity. In my PhD research, I am studying the effect of
matrix properties on the connectivity of plant
populations in
fragmented landscapes. Specifically, I am testing how different types
of matrix habitat (i.e. forest vs.
agricultural
field) affect the extent of seed dispersal in Mediterranean shrublands.
I hope to contribute both to the basic
knowledge of
fragmentation effects on plant populations' dynamics and to the
management and land use planning of open areas.
