Prof. Ram won the grant to continue developing advanced technological tools for sequencing DNA and RNA in individual cancer cells, with the aim of locating mutations in few cells within the cancer tumor, which give those cells resistance to drug treatment.

Improving the ability to identify such mutations could be used for the early diagnosis of various types of cancer and for tailoring personalized treatments to patients, which would be more effective.
