Dr. David Darom was a marine biologist and nature photographer. He served for 35 years as head of the Department of Scientific Photography at the Institute of Life Sciences at the Hebrew University of Jerusalem,

David documented terrestrial nature, photographing many of the wildflowers of the Land of Israel, with an emphasis on documenting Bible plants. In addition, he took many underwater photographs, documenting many hundreds of marine and invertebrate fish species in the Red Sea and the Mediterranean.

The Upeneus davidaromi, a species of fish in the mole family, was named after him in 2001.
